I dont know if you read your reviews anymore but dude this is AWESOME! and i totally got the Cartoon Cool book! and im reading it right now because i really wanna learn to draw this way. This cartoon humor style for my characters..

My wish would be to learn to adapt my own type but i can only draw as well as my practice and reading do for me.. I am no Synj (a)

So much like Angry Birds but still KICK ASS!!!

Love the graphics, but I can't shake the feeling that you got inspired like A LOT by Heli Attack. Even the weapons are similar :).. The graphic was sweet the movements fluent but there are bugs, i think it is in your collision detection but i can't be sure still 4 from me because the game is sweet and nice programming :)

It's a nice game, hehe reminds me on Angry birds the drawings hehe.. however the English instructions are wrong you say "Zombies rotate his hands" when it should be "Zombies rotate their hands" unless its just one zombie then it can be "The zombie rotates his hand" not hands.. :) Otherwise the game is nice :D 4 stars

Wow Sick it was made in Flash 3 hahaha, So i guess today it's easier to create this game then it was back then. The game is harder then it was when i was younger ;D the idea of having "high quality" and killing the boss easy :D was much better

Always good, but there was another release of this yes. You changed the Bear because of a complaint sometime.. Still awesome, very simple game and THIS! my friend was hardcore Coding back then! in the end of 2000.. That was top notch, it made "Snipe Justin Timberlake" look lame in comparison to this D:

Ahhh AS2 how i love you, i am dipping my toes into AS3 and that is a whole new world, the idea of never using actionscript on movie clips themselves is terrifying, instead using listeners. Anyway the script was solid, i still dislike when games have gravity like we're on Mars(Spaceman Craig Keee-Kuuu-Keee-Kuuu) the more static gravity like QUICK UP AND DOWN is more my style. But i simply loved the explanation but the color's are not good for the eyes to read ( and no i have 19 inch acer LCD ) no low contrast, it's better to use white on dark green :D.. But i give you top score because the information is there... Question

You say you put the actions for the wall, ceiling on themselves.. Can't you just as well put that in the character if the character's instance name hitTarget instance of the movieclips wall ceiling, yadayad and keep it all inside the main character.. (Only problem being that if you do create enemies, you'd have to copy paste that into their MC instead of just.. ahh never mind your way seams better regarding that issue...

And the A for attack was nice but if you didn't hold down A it just went to frame 1 of the stance, you might consider running an animation and just put _root.hero.gotoAndStop(1);

This engine is almost 3 years old. If I took a whack at making a game where you mash a button instead of holding it down, I could probably come up with something in 10-15 minutes. As it is, I don't see much of a need to rewrite an old tutorial that not too many people look at anymore anyway.

Can't give you a star, the code is copy paste and no thorough what each thing does, i know already the things this code does and like in so many other tutorials about fighting game you leave out stuff, i can press attack and right and the character slides forward, it needs a stop other then that it's basically like most tutorials without any information why each thing does what..

decent tutorial, i have to give you at least 3 and half star because this is written in 2005, there are many things in this tutorial missing.

a) You can just hit Z and press forward and Z to just punch like superman so he never has to go through the whole action
b) hold down Z and press Right key, you slide across because the character is trying to perform an animation and walking at the same time, it needs "if key is down and key is down, _x+=stop; where variable for stop would be that speed to stop the character in its tracks.
c) the walking animation should not have to finish looping it's unnatural, you should make it so if key left is down play animation ablablbal else if key right play animation ablbalabl ELSE goto stance, so that if the Key is not DOWN! it goes straight to the stance, that way he's not walking in stationary through that animation
d) and the gravity is missing..

other then that my friend the tutorial is amazing! to learn the basics of AS not AS3 though, im still learning that haha it's a new world for me trying to program so strict!

I understand what the people are saying about it being to slow, it's not the computer it's the code. It's the jump feature it should go maybe this high but be quick down it should run more smoothly :).. framerate about 40 is enough but the code would need to run a bit different, so you don't feel like it's METAL SLUG on the PLANET BARSOOM!... :D but still nice tribute to METAL SLUG
